LANDSCAPE TO ABSTRACTION

As a painter, my foundation is landscape painting in oil.  I also enjoy loosening my brushstroke and working more abstractly.  These paintings show my natural artistic evolution of brushstroke and the power of expression that I find through color and brushwork. I will always revisit painting landscapes because it soothes my soul.  I’m not so interested in the representation but more the feelings and the structure of the line found in the landscape.  Once I decipher that, it becomes a process of gestural, expressive painting - a contained chaos.
