ICE CRUSH

These black and white internal works on paper were created much like my other paintings.  The process of painting is similar to my landscape painting, yet the departure painting is different.  I believe every artist has their mark, much like one’s handwriting style. These paintings began by laying down my mark, intuitively responding to it’s placement on the page, building  a visual narrative in the moment, creating natural movement and composition.  As a life long painter, everything I know about the visual language aided me in creating these paintings.  Towards the end, I realized they looked like ice cracking in the ocean or a lake.  Thus, they became my Ice Crush series, which in the end made sense as everything I do is inspired by nature
